Media attacks against Trump only making him stronger

With just two weeks left before the 2024 election, the media’s full-blown panic over a possible, if not likely, Trump victory has sent them into an hysterical tailspin as they lash out at the former president even more. And yet, interestingly enough, their ramped-up attacks might be having the exact opposite effect, only making him more popular with the American people.

When an assassin’s bullet nearly took his life in July, the media rushed to either downplay the incident or even went so far as to blame him for his own assassination attempt. When he donned an apron and worked a shift at a McDonald’s, they mocked him and continued to call him a “threat to democracy” as he humbly prepared French fries for waiting customers. They have gone after his family, his business, and his very life, and for what? Pure partisan disagreement.

The American people see this [1]. They see it through the numerous lawfare assaults against him, the phony indictments and outlandish convictions, the mugshot and the FBI raid, among other grave injustices committed against him and those close to him.

President Trump is giving his all for America, one last time, because he loves this country and the people who live here. And for that, they have to destroy him. That is why we must give it our all too, for him. Become part of the solution and secure his victory at TrumpForce47.com [2].

Are Media Attacks Making Trump More Popular?

By Ed Morrissey

Meanwhile, what is extraordinary is Trump’s ability to improve his favorability rating in the face of relentlessly hostile media coverage. In August, at the end of Harris’s first month of campaigning, the conservative Media Research Center [3] found that Harris’s media coverage had been 84% positive, higher than any other major-party nominee ever, while Trump’s media coverage was 89% negative. Against a headwind like that, Trump’s improvement in favorability is remarkable.

So, is there a cause and effect here? It’s entirely possible that wildly negative media coverage is actually causing many people to view Trump more favorably. After all, the media are some of the least-trusted institutions in public life, and if top media figures say something, millions of people are likely to think the opposite. It’s hard to see Trump-bashing as helping Trump, but that might be what is going on.

It certainly would explain a lot. The wanton dissipation of credibility has consequences, to be sure, and this may well be one of them. On the other hand, the media’s tongue-bathing of Harris has helped her favorability too.
